I took advantage of the sunshine yesterday and did some garden clean-up. I uncovered little furry shoots in red and green, arising from drab heaps of dead, brown sticks and rotting leaves. Little surprises growing where I thought all life had expired! This is why I love gardening. The miracle of new life coming up each spring from the soil. The wonder of a new plant growing where a small seed was planted and died to give birth to it. It speaks to the miracle of our hearts in God's hands. Bearing no sign of Life without Him, realizing our emptiness, brokenness and hopelessness, then He comes, bringing us to Life by laying down His. And out of our 'death' comes shoots of the new Life He gives us! I'm really no good with the camera, but here's my best attempt at capturing the wonder of what's emerging in my garden...
Those little red and green shoots are new lupins coming up. I was sure this one was dead, as they say never to move lupins and I cannot resist reassessing and moving things all the time!
phlox, also amazing since it was, of course, moved.
all those little red shoots will soon be tall stalks of yellow coreopsis...if anyone wants some I probably have to divide it because it looks like it's going to take over soon!
more lupins

Oh....I see it! New life! Yep, the ground hog was right. Early spring!
Lovely post!
I love gardening too -- though I'm awful at it -- but I just love planting things and seeing them grow despite my efforts!
