Today was a GOOD day.
Good to get out and stretch my brain in different ways than it is normally stretched, by teaching a few classes of Grade 6s.
The two highlights were being able to tell the kids a story about and talk about the quote: "a man is no fool, who gives up what he cannot keep, to gain that which he cannot lose." I hope that sticks! And the other was the response to my cryptic symbol game, where the kids had to decipher these puzzle-like symbols into common phrases and things. They LOVED it. And we had a lot of extra time that we were able to fill with a great creative-thinking exercise. I don't know if you've ever seen them, here's a few examples:
knee
lights
lights

yyymen
because
because
be

I've also been having lots of fun with the kids at home. My little sweet pea was reading a note from Jesus yesterday morning. It said that she wasn't listening to Him! And then she asked for a pen to write an apology note back! Haha. We'll pray she keeps that repentant heart! She's taken to listing off all the people she knows who are boys, and all those who are girls. Yesterday Cookie Monster got included in the list of boys, but she actually meant 'Gingerbread Man.' I'm not sure how they got confused. One of them eats cookies, the other is a cookie. Hmmmm. The moose alternates between an absolutely heart-melting toothy grin and adorable endearing behavior, and messy, whiny, screechy, persistent outbursts. He's got so much of Nu in him it's not even funny. (Which is meant in no way to mean that Nu alternates between those two opposites.) We were talking about his personality the other night, saying how well it meshes with the meaning of his name, and why we picked his name. Stubborn. Persistent. Determined. When he gets his mind set on something, watch out!
The prophet Micaiah can be found in 2 Chronicles as the only prophet in the whole of Israel who would still speak God's truth, instead of what the king wanted to hear. We pray that he'll have this same fortitude and stubborness when it comes to the TRUTH.
Life is good in our house. Feeling blessed tonight. Thanks to Mom for watching the kids today!!
