There were a lot of elaborate churches in Samoa...it is 99% Christian after all. And statistics never lie. This one's in Apia, the main city...actually the only real city. And if you look closely you can see a green bus at bottom left. These buses were HILARIOUS! They all had names like "Queen of Alofa'aga" or other funky things, and they were all trying to outdo each other for having the loudest sound system with the deepest bass. Sitting on the bus was another matter, they can get to at least double capacity because everyone sits on everyone else's lap to fit more people on. Still, a safer mode of transportation I think than the piled-up back of a pick-up. Although both vehicles seem to have rationalized the need to pass on a solid line, whilst in a curve, regardless of who is coming the other direction. That's why horns were invented I guess.

This lady is making REAL coconut cream, freshly grinded from the tree. The ladies of Samoa do an amazing amount of really really hard work. As do the men. I got to try this and I wasn't too successful. I also got to try peeling a taro root with the sharp edge of a metal lid from a soup can or something...that went even worse. I was laughed at, and then nearly cut myself several times...and I was painfully slow at it. I did ok at roasting the cocoa beans though. And it was kind of fun.
