We were so overjoyed this morning at 2 am to discover that a new Nausling had been added to the world!! My sister had a beautiful bouncing baby boy, Samuel Herman, this morning. Mom and baby need a lot of rest and recovery of course, but everyone's doing well and pleased as punch. The Moose is super excited to have a little boy cousin just around his age, and the Ladybird was disappointed because she wanted Auntie Sue to have both a boy and a girl baby, but she is equally excited and wants to meet him right now! As for the name, it's just absolutely perfect and I love it, although Julia's option 'Pluto' comes in a close second. Heehee.
I am so frustrated not to be able to be there with Susan, or see the baby!!!! Arg!!! I did a little retail therapy this morning by going to Winners and finding him another gift. It did help a little.
Being the older sister, ahem.... I feel it my sisterly duty to fill Susan in on a few differences between girls and boys. Feel free to add your 2 cents. In observing my boy and girl, I think it is necessary that Sue be prepared for more messes. Yes, if our case is any indication, boys are about 10 times messier than girls. Mealtime equals food sprayed in a 2 meter radius around the high-chair, and glops of goup everywhere on baby and tray. Diaper changes can get messy really quickly and unexpectedly. Enough said. Be forewarned. There also seems to be more of a bent on destroying things. Hmmmm. Lesina loved to wreck block houses and such too, but with the Moose, it's absolutely everything. This morning there were scads of magnetic letters on our little kids table and he took a plastic bowling pin and whacked away at them until they were scattered all over the floor. Which brings me to the point that I am forever picking things up off the floor and I'm really getting frustrated with my pants falling down when I do this...but then, that's another post. Just before I wrote this Lesina was reading a book and Mekaia was sitting opposite her ripping his. Nice.
I don't know how many commonalities I can pull out of my hat, but I know that I find it so interesting to observe the manliness of my 15 month old. He thinks and speaks in deep grunts lots of times. It's too funny. He loves hitting things and watching them move, break or cry---not good. He's also more affectionate than the Ladybird was at this age, he's all hugs and snuggles sometimes, gotta love that. Anyway, all that to say, boys are GREAT and wonderful and fun...how does the poem go?
What are little boys made of?
Snips and snails and puppy dog tails,
that's what little boys are made of.
Welcome to the world Samuel!!!

Love from your cousins and auntie and uncle!!!
On a side note, I have to say how awesome my parents are...they're on their way to the airport right now, so they won't read this, but my Dad just had the idea to buy this expensive TENS device for Nu to help with the back pain he's had for a few years on and off. It's amazing, unexpected and it helps so much. Thank you for the early present Dad, we love you guys!!!!

I love your posts Sarah, they are always so much fun to read!
Congratulations on your new little nephew. Aren't those pictures great?
What is TENS? I want to know. Ron is very crooked right not and has tried hanging in the back swinger but it hasn't helped much.
TENS is a machine that stimulates the nervous system through impulses from this little black box. Oooh, freaky huh? It works really well for pain relief for Nu and I know the physio always uses it when he goes, so now we won't be paying those expensive bills anymore! It might help. They use it for pain relief for lots of different things, even in the hospitals after surgery and such. I think Dad found it at the medical supplies place. It was about 170.00 dollars. Poor crooked uncle, hope he gets some relief soon.
Oh, ya, I had that when I went to physio therapy! I know what that is! Glad it helps him.
I agree completely about the differences between girls and boys! I had my boy first so I didn't know that there were children who didn't get into everything, and throw things everywhere, and make messes wherever they go, until I had girls. When we had our girls, we didn't even have to babyproof anything, we just said no, don't touch that - and they didn't! I have been reading a very interesting book the last few weeks called "Why Gender Matters" by Leonard Sax. It's not from a Christian perspective so some of the "just like our ancestors, the apes" stuff you have to take with a grain of salt, but what he has to say about the differences in the way boys and girls think, feel and learn is very interesting. That's it for my blab.
cheers,
Christa
We madeit ok. havign a great time.
Greetings from sunny Kihei! We had a good flight although a long wait at YVR for our flight. Our phone number here is 808 270 4127. We are in room 6-305. Our large balcony has a view over the pool area which is surrounded by palms. I went in the ocean this morning and dried off in about 10 min. Our condo is large and fully equipped - even with boogie boards. I am having trouble using email here as I can't remember my password! Frustrating. We are glad the TENS is working ok. I just thought that if it worked, it's be worth its weight in gold! Well, back to the condo now to see if Mum is ready to go shopping. We'll keep looking at blogs to see how little Samuel is doing. (And mama too) Aloha.
Boys are so different....soooo true! Unless you experience getting peed on from the loose "fire hose" you are not initiated into mothering a boy. That's all I have to say.
