Today my dear husband is away preparing a pig for a luau tonight. His boss bought it at an auction last night, and today they are going to clean it, and stick it in the ground surrounded by hot rocks and newspaper, to cook for several hours. Then we'll have a big party tonight. Hopefully it won't rain!
The kids are doing well, though missing their Nana and Grandpa who are in Newfoundland! Hi Mom and Dad! I'm sure M. will be walking soon...he is SO sturdy! He responds to the words "atta" (smile/laugh) with a tiger-like roar which is pretty endearing! And he claps on command as well! He is so curious about everything, I love to watch him explore and play.
His sister loves to play with him, although she is also experimenting with what will happen if she pulls his hair, or bugs him in some way...at least she's still honest about her offenses. Yesterday I asked her why he was crying and she said "I just pushed him Mama," very matter-of-factly. She'd better learn quickly because pretty soon he'll have outgrown her and be big enough to teach her a lesson or two! This morning at breakfast L. said to me, "Mama, I love apple juice, and I love porridge, and I love you!" Ahhh, little girls really are sugar and spice and everything nice (0:
Last night DH failed an important class in his quest to become a citizen: Canadian Culture 101: Appreciation of Corner Gas Humor. He fell asleep after five minutes of mocking it. Oh well. I didn't like it either the first time, but it's grown on me, and I got the first season DVD from the library yesterday. I guess I really am truly Canadian!
Have a great weekend everyone!

Nice to know you're in the porridge/juice category in your kids eyes, hey? (It's all about comfort and nourishment...it's her way of thanking you for being there and looking after her. Cherish the moment. They forget when they reach the double digits.)
Enjoy the roast oink.

I love corner gas. SHows that feature small towns really make my heart desire my good old town of Matsqui village! Although the corner gas gang is a little nutty for me, i don't think i would survive long with them. Hope the Piggy roast went well!
