Twilight Zone...

I got a reminder on Friday afternoon that you really never know what the day will hold when you wake up in the morning. Around 12:30 I got myself, and my PARENTS' van into the most ridiculous, numb-skulled minor accident ever recorded in the ICBC recordbooks. We were all fine, and the van had only a few scratches and a very small dent, but it was still a HORRIBLE horrible experience. First of all, the stupidity of it all, being my fault. Then the fact that the kids were with me. And a close third the fact that it was my PARENTS' van! Did I mention that already? And not our old A-Team-mobile: a new, stow and go seating, deluxe, DVD-playing, Grand Caravan. Yup. Their first-ever new vehicle.
Now since they are away right now on the other side of the country, I determined to tell them when they got home...so as not to wreck their holiday. Oh, I was dreading the moment.
Little did I know, at around the exact same time on Friday, they were involved in a minor accident as well! Talk about weird. Of course, their accident was not their fault...a hit and run by a big old heavy-duty beater that (thankfully) only nicked their front bumper and caused really minor damage. It could have been a lot worse. So they called ICBC and got the news that I had made a claim also. There goes my plan to tell them when they got home! They called today and I was so relieved by their response! (Not what I remembered from age 16 when I was coming home late for my curfew after celebrating my birthday out in White Rock with Lisa and I rear-ended the car parked across the street from her driveway in my rush to get home!--A close second in the stupidest-accident-of-all-time list)
They were so understanding and amazing about this accident. My Dad said "It's not our van. It's God's, and the Royal Bank's (I think it's still mostly the Royal Bank's (0;) ." It's just material things. It's just a vehicle. We're just glad you're ok. We all do stupid things sometimes. (Phew...thought it was just me.) And, we think God is trying to say something here...it's just stuff, it's just money, remember what your priorities are. So here's to my amazing parents...Mom and Dad, we love you. I am so BLESSED.
So post after post I keep saying that I need a break. It's just been a few really bad, emotional, frustrating, exhausting days. Add to that (male readers tune out now please) the monthly fiend has come back to torture me...ok, I can't really complain after 19 months without, but still, hard to get back to harsh reality...and I have a little bit of a foggy, annoying head cold...now I REALLY need a break. So anyone wanting to go out for a coffee and a walk one evening (that is not a Wednesday, Thursday or Sunday) I am definitely GAME!
